Becoming Travelers: The Start of Our Nomadic Lifestyle

Becoming Travelers: Our Wanderlust Story

Becoming travelers and embracing the life of wanderlust just kind of happened. Even before we met we both had a love for traveling.

Turns out when two travelers collide they become MEGA travelers. Just kidding, but our influence over each other has led to many more adventures and vacations.

How we become “professional travelers”Of course, we went on several adventures while still in school but we were really able to up our "travel" once we were out on our own. Now traveling is such a big part of our lives.

We like to think that becoming travelers was out of our control but continuing with this lifestyle is a choice. It seems the stars aligned and as our lives continued to gravitate towards a life of adventure.

Travel Physical Therapy

The official start of our traveling adventure was when we became travel physical therapists. Kelsey knew she wanted to be a traveling physical therapist before even starting school and Phil took no convincing to get on board.

This was a perfect fit since we both love traveling and of course we wanted to work as physical therapists. We didn't go to school for 7-8 years for nothing.

This allowed us to move every 3-6 months to a new location in the USA and further enable our travel addiction. The constant relocating also led to us living in a mobile tiny home for several years.

Vacations

So once we were "officially adults" who both had a love for traveling we were able to work our budget around vacations. Plus we could plan wild adventures and make crazy decisions to drive through the night in order to get just one more trip in.

Living our travel lifestyle

We decided together that we would go on enough vacations to equal half the number of weeks that our work assignments were. So if we took a 12-week assignment then we would go on 6 vacations. We often tried for a vacation every other week but at times we would have to work around our work schedule.

Living a life of adventureOur vacations are not always grand, but at times they definitely are. We have done our fair share of driving the entire country several times in addition to flying more miles than we can count.

Every second we get off work we are looking for our next adventure and won't stop until we have traveled the entire globe. We will be travelers for life.

We like to explore everything and anything. This means we will visit big cites, camp in secluded areas or travel overseas. Basically, we love anything outdoors and love nature.

Wanderlust

So, in the end, does our job help with our traveling adventure? Of course! Between the frequent change of scenery and having a grown-up salary, we are living the traveler's dream.

But even without the job or relocating we would still be travelers who vacation as often as possible because, deep down, we are both wanderers at heart.
